The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) was established in 2006 under the aegis of the Secretary General of the United Nations, with a multi-stakeholder participation model, with the aim of fostering dialogue and action on global Internet governance and policies. The IGF Italy Committee represents the national articulation of this important initiative and will be supported not only by the Department for Digital Transformation, but also by AGID, where the Committee Secretariat has been established.

The new Committee started its activities in September 2024, and is composed of 33 members, representing public administrations, businesses, the world of research and civil society.
